Declaration of War...on Junk!

I am pretty sure it happens to everyone, but I seem to suddenly be swimming in clutter. Everywhere I turn, there is junk out of place, and in places I never knew once could be the keeper of a pile.  I am hoping this is simply a phase, but it is about to drive me crazy!

As much as I love my children, I am ready for the days when they understand, please put your things up.  I am not meaning throw them in the doorway of your room!  As I sit here this morning, the table is cleaned with the exception of my computer and coffee.  The main living spaces of my home are fairly presentable.  My closet however, needs some help. So do the children's rooms.  I am not a shopper, so I have no idea where all the clothes in my closet came from.  I did find a swim suit in a bag this morning that I wore in college.  Needless to say, the elastic has no give, and it found it's way to the trash.

I try to purge broken toys as I see them, and remove clothing that is worn out or too small as I do laundry.  During the school year, I throw away papers once a week, so that we don't accidentally throw out a study sheet or important note.  I go through the bills and throw things away once they are addressed.  I am curious how you deal with stuff.  It seems like everyone accumulates things, but some are better than others at sorting out and finding resources to effectively remove items from their home.

I am officially declaring war on junk! I will have the will power and desire to remove all excess from my home! If we haven't used it in a year, I don't think we really need it. I am thinking we will be having a giant garage sale in the very near future, or Goodwill is going to get a payload... check back to find out what happens...

Until next time, keep adventuring and looking for joy in the small details of life!

  1. I am learning from Flylady.net. How do you deal with no time to do the necessary? I need some strong discipline.

  2. I'm reading Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider. My sister-in-law says it changed her life. I'm liking it so far. It's a never ending battle though, isn't it? We moved from a large home into a singlewide trailer while we wait to build a home here in NV... and managing clutter is a necessity. I wish I was better at it.
