A Mini Vacation

Well, today we returned home from a mini family vacation.  Scott has been wanting to get away, and so I let him plan the entire trip.  Since we have my neice Makenzie for a few weeks, we put her in the car, and off we went. Destination...Hot Springs, Arkansas.

After we packed everything and the kitchen sink, we loaded up and got on our way.  Everyone was so excited and couln't wait to get there.  We arrived at our hotel, and let's just say it was not what I expected.  The lobby area was great, but our room was delapitated to say the least.  It went as far as paint peeling on the door!  I asked to be moved, and of course, they were sold out.  My complaint was finally heard when I asked for a hair dryer, since the one in the room didn't work, and they finally gave me a discount on our room for one night!  Ugh...

Pickles and the Little Man walking around and buring some energy!

The Little Man's favorite spot in the toy store!  Thomas and his friends are so much fun!
Regardless of the room, we had a fabulous time.  We went to Magic Springs and Crystal Falls, and it was fun, until everyone else got there.  It was so crowded, we finally left after people kept knocking the Little Man down.  Note to self...don't let Scott plan our events and go to a theme park on a holiday Saturday!

We returned to the hotel sunburned and ready for a nap, only to find housekeeping forgot to make up our room.  Not a big deal, but when you have 5 people crammed in a itty, bitty, teeny tiny room, the least we needed was dry towels and the trash taken out. Finally the housekeeping lady came by to see if we had clean towels.  Not take our trash, but to give us the 4 towels that is her limit!  I finally went to the pool and got pool towels for everyone to have a fresh dry one.

The girls and I got dressed and went to see the Wax Museum and for a little retail therapy while the Little Man and Scott took a nap.  What great boutiques they had in downtown Hot Springs!  We found a great toy store, some cute dress shops and tons of what nots.

The girls and the wax Cinderella...I think this was their favorite!

Katy Belle greeted us at a Snazzies Funky Boutique. Pickles was enchanted!
On Saturday evening some of our friends came and joined us in Hot Springs.  The entire mood of the vacation changed.  Scott was ready to pack up our room and head home Sunday, but agreed to stay and try one more night! I am so thankful we did.  We enjoyed the lake, a fabulous country store, and a wonderful evening.

Sweet friends...so excited to see one another!

The children are ready to go to the lobby party!

playin at the lake!

Lake time!

All dressed and ready to head to dinner.

After dinner.

So much fun dressing up and going out to dinner!  Makenzie loved it!
All in all, we had a great time with great friends!  Our adventure started slow, but turned out great!

Until next time, keep adventuring and looking for joy in the small details of life!

  1. Sounds fun-----do they still have the steam baths to use? Let me know about that motel so I'll never go there.
Are there a lot of antique shops?
